Some Summer Stuff

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure Oregon is experiencing the longest summer ever. It got warm in May, hot through July and August, and stayed toasty all through September and into October, give or take a few rainy days. The high today was 83. The air conditioning still turns on, the sprinklers still turn on, and I'm wondering if fall is ever going to arrive. Probably next week.

Oh wait, this is supposed to be a post about stuff we did this summer. I'll have to go check the photo archives to see . . .

Hayden finished up elementary school and showed off his juggling skills. Totally helpful in real life.

Jillian officially finished middle school. Hurrah and Nooooooo!

Kyle and I celebrated 16 years of marriage with a trip to Silver Falls.
We went trekking with our stake, 200 youth, and these sweet duds.

Here's me and Kyle with our family. Great kids!
We spent 3.5 days doing this. And getting almost no sleep due to rain!

Then we took these 4 kiddos camping near the Oregon coast.
Our cozy campsite looked like this.
Our s'mores stash looked like this. Nutter Butters are key, people. As is double-roasting in a basket.

This kid caught his first fish.
It was Kate's first camping trip since being in utero. She loved it!

A few weeks later, Kyle and I hiked a mountain with cool people.
It looked like this at about 10,000 feet.
And breathtakingly beautiful a few thousand feet lower.
We spent 4th of July in Portland with cousins.

And helped this guy celebrate his birthday in July.

We didn't do any big trips this summer since we went to Disneyland last fall and we knew Kyle was moving to Boston. It was supposed to be a chill, relaxing summer, but it just flew by.Time does that more and more now. Except on the weekends when Kyle is out of town. Then it stops. ; )
